Update
So I have not updated this journal in a while, for the same old reasons: just too damn busy. Work has been cruising along; I am no longer a supervisor, but there is still plenty of work to do back in the Quality Office. In fact, they have put a little more on my plate, as I have already proven that I can handle the responsibility … regardless if management believes I am a good supervisor or not.
Things ended poorly with the supervisor gig, as the bigwigs misinterpreted some things that occurred on my watch: four people quit, and I got blamed. The fact that three of them were shitty employees, and the other had been planning to leave for weeks, didn’t factor into the equation: four people quit while *I* was their supervisor, so I must’ve been doing something wrong. They also didn’t factor into the equation that when my team was told I wouldn’t be their supervisor anymore, five of them got mad … and two even cried. Oh well, at least the Quality Office welcomed me back with open arms.
Meanwhile, Kim’s supervisor gig recently ended as well: there has been a lot of “attrition” at work lately, which is a fancy term meaning “we hired a lot of crappy people and they have all been quitting or getting fired in rapid succession.” So in Kim’s department, they combined several teams, and cut the two newest supervisors: one of which was Mrs. Sugar. On the plus side, she goes back to getting off work at 3:30ish, which means Zoe gets home earlier from daycare; and maybe now we can get caught up on our laundry. :-)
