Nothing really major
I haven't posted in a while because I was too busy doing a lot of nothing. I did go visit some friends in WY for Christmas, it was fun, we didn't do much but I really didn't feel like doing much, very much better than being at home alone or putting up with family.
Still have interviews coming up but in the mean time I am in grad school. I was accepted the day after classes began. All of the TA positions are taken but I am looking into paying and non-paying RA (Research Assistant) positions. I doubt I will get anything paying but as long as I can get the financial aid situation taken care of I should be fine.
The major thing right now is the fact that there are only two of us in the house now as opposed to the usual 3-4. As a result we are paying twice what we are used to in rent, it's still really not bad. It comes to about $400 each per month for a four bedroom house, when I was paying $425 for a two bedroom apartment. Even though it's still not bad my roommate says that he will leave in a couple of months if we cannot find roommates, saying something about the fact that we are paying too much. I doubt that I will be able to convince him otherwise but at least the landlord still takes care of some things around the house, though we usually have to do the work ourselves, and it's cheaper than many of the two bedroom apartments in town. I certainly cannot afford the entire rent myself and I don't want to have to find a way to move all my crap to another place where I will have to sign a lease. This is the only major hurdle to overcome. If anyone happens to know someone who is looking for a place in the Lubbock area feel free to hook us up.
