Greetings all -
I figured I should make a holiday post, to let everyone know what's up here in my neck of the woods. In honesty, I debated seriously not doing this, as it hasn't been a pleasant time of late, but here it goes.
I went to a friend's father's funeral the other day. Was a somber mood, but Im very, very glad I was there for her. Getting home however, I found a note under my door. Apparently, the woman who lives in the apartment beneath me has filed many, many, many complaints about me. I am, due to my medical condition, awake at night rather often. Apparently, the sheer fact of me walking from my computer chair to my bathroom or kitchen is anathema to her. And I quote from my landlord when he first mentioned it to me. 'People should sleep at night. Why can't you be awake during the day like everyone else?' Apparently, this man lives in the land where no one is sick. On medicine. Works second shift. Or anything else that doesn't coincide with their bullshit ideas of when people should be active. It's not like I'm fucking doing jumping jacks at 3am. I'm /sitting/ in my computer chair, with a headset on - no sound from the PC at all. At any rate the note says - 'Numerous complaints have been filed against you for moving around at night in your bedroom. You have 10 days to rectify this or you will be in violation of your lease, and eviction proceedings will begin.'
Merry Christmas.
I go to my sister's Christmas Party that night. Starts out ok, save for a psycho drunk psuedo-white supremacist that managed to get invited and attempt to get into fistfights with everyone, including the women. I'm told he's banned from the house now, which is good. However... my sister's boyfriend, who's been my friend for years before the pair even met, was in the kitchen alone. I stopped in to let him know how happy I was for them both, that they're doing well together, and such. He in turn tells me what a dispicable bastard I am... how my sister actually hates me, and that I did horrific things to her when we were young, like taking her on a camping trip to the woods with my friends and I took to go drinking (Me? CAMP!? Oh, Yeah, that happened. And of course, as all my friends know, I drink so, so often.) Only to /Abandon her/ in the woods, alone, in the middle of the night. When I very gently tried to suggest to him that he was mistaken, and that I would never have done such a thing, I was told that I was, in so many words, an untrustworthy liar that he could never believe for any reason, as any story I tell will be vastly different from what he /knows/ is true, by default.
Now note this, if you will. My sister has admitted to me previously that she remembers things that /never/ happened. Has clear memories of her Kindergarten year of school; the Teacher, her friends, activities. My sister never /went/ to kindergarten. She skipped the grade, as did I. So I figure that I'll call her, and talk to her about this, try and get some resolution.
I call her. I'm told very, very flatly that it did in fact happen, and the fact that I have no memory of it means absolutely nothing. I'm further told that while she doesn't hate me, that is as far as she will discuss that or any other matter; her boyfriend 'took it out of context'. She, said, and I quote: 'I have no time to make you feel better about this, or anything else.'
Ok, now that I've hit you with this - I need to add something positive. I have /no/ idea what I would do without each and every one of you. Reading every day about your lives, chatting with some or most of you on IM, the Phone, or other mediums... it's what keeps me going. You are all exceedingly important to me, and I want to wish you the most sincere best of the Holiday Season to you. Know that if anyone needs to talk, or needs someone there - I'm here. Just message, leave me a way to contact you, and I will. Sometimes the support of friends is all we have.
Take care all, and Merry Christmas.
