no MRI, it turns out

As soon as I got to the MRI unit and I mentioned the stent, from wanting them to check again that it was non-magnetic, I was asked when it was inserted. Two weeks ago. They immediately said that they won't do an MRI until six weeks after any surgery. I argued that just shoving that down my throat was hardly surgery, but they were adamant - the MRI

I have no idea how I will feel tomorrow. The appointment is early (10.20) and I will cope without accompaniment, but I currently have no visitors scheduled until Sunday, so seeing someone tomorrow afternoon or Saturday would be very welcome, though I am less than scintillating company at the moment, and visitors should know that in the daytime the England-India test will be on my TV!

Hi, I've had an e-mail from a comics fans list that Martin and I are both on, which is ultimately from Martin's brother. I don't know who this has gone round to, but I thought I'd post it here to make sure people get informed

This will be a distressing update to read on LJ, but may be the only place some of you are able to get news.

Though he's probably in the best possible place, sadly Martin's health has taken a sharp downturn since Monday morning; his cancer is no longer being treated, with all energies focused on his best comfort. He is almost certainly in the last stages of this. He has friends with him constantly; and visitors are very welcome, though perhaps don't expect to stay long (it's a small rather crowded ward, with few chairs to go round).
