Yukio Mishima - The Decay of the Angel

A slightly disappointing finish to the tetralogy: the blurb claims that it pulls together the themes of courtly behaviour, samurai spirit and Buddhist thought from the first three, but it really doesn't, and the dreary nastiness of the fourth incarnation makes for a rather flattened finish.

I enjoyed the opening scenes w/lots of lovely writing of the sea - the last incarnation is nasty, but its a nasty world that is being depicted throughout the cycle, isn't it?

Not really sure about that last meeting - was underwhelmed at the time, but maybe its the type of project that has a journey if not a destination to it.
