Ok, so I have a question on internet etiquette.
Say I read something by someone and I... didn't quite agree with them. And then I read something someone had said in comments to that post and I took issue with some of that too. Now, I don't really feel like commenting on that post (which did have some points, so it's not like I felt that person was completely stupid), but I want to address the issues therein, and I tend to be not the most tactful of persons when it comes to stuff like this (feminist issues, nothing makes me more angry). So, what do I do now? Write up a comment? Post something here? Do I link back to the entry that started it or is that pointless? I do want to address some specific stuff mentioned there, so otherwise I'll need to quote the entire thing, and since I like pointing at source material this could become a bit strange... Is stuff written in unlocked LJ-posts free to poke at?
Ok, so I realize that technically anything posted on the internet is free to be poked at by anyone, but I'm more interested in what the "correct" thing to do is. Why doesn't fandom work like the rest of society? Or maybe it does, and I just haven't noticed. I mean, if someone published this in a newspaper, or even in a more "official" blog I wouldn't have any trouble writing about it and linking back to the original entry, but since it's not I'm very confused.
Help!!!!
