Title: Let Yourself Go. (00/??)
General Rating: NC-17
Rating for this Part: PG-13
Warnings: Eventual Slash, sticky smut. Lots of sticky smut.
Pairing: Hound x Mirage
Setting: Imperium Cybertronium G1 AU.
Summary: Mirage believed no one would ever love him with the same strong and pure love his father felt for him nor that he'd ever feel true love for another mech until Hound challenged those beliefs.
Notes: About a year ago I promised to naggingfishwife I would write her a story as a thank you for her generosity and help when I needed it, but I did not want to begin to post until this was finished. The story is now finished, but I have not decided how many chapters it'll be split into. By her preference the smut on this fic is sticky. All parts will be labeled properly so it'll be easy to skip if that's not your flavor of smut. This be the prologue.

This fic is not beta read so feel free to correct me.

"Of all the things we could have become, why become this?" Mirage read aloud through a data book containing poetry collected from all corners of Cybertron. "What it is, then, that brought us close only to tear us apart? What has changed to make the one we love one we now hate? Of all things we could have become, beloved, why become this? Why do I stand here, stained on your liquid life, while you look at me with your lifeless optics? Why do we love, beloved? And why do we hate?"

"Practicing your oratorical skills, Mirage?" Kup looked up from the piece of antique weaponry he was cleaning, smiling knowingly to his grandson. "What noble d'you intent to impress with your collection of old books and lost poems this time?"

Mirage laughed softly. "No one, grandfather. I'm just killing time until father arrives, he mentioned he had a surprise for me, and I can barely wait until he's here."

The old mech shook his head with amusement. It would be the first time Mirage would see Skyfire in the metal in almost three deca cycles and his creation usually brought a present or some exotic trinket for Mirage whenever his absence was extended. They were oddly demonstrative in that way and while Kup was a more practical mech, he never had the spark to get in the way of Mirage’s and Skyfire’s shows of affection; after all it had not been easy for Skyfire to raise a sparkling all by himself when his profession demanded much of his time away from home.

Kup could remember the orn Skyfire talked to him, admitting that he’d just visited Sunstorm to request his prayers to be granted a child. Kup ranted long and loud to his child about his decision, and how it was both selfish and irresponsible on his part to ask for a son he would not be able to care for. Skyfire never sought a permanent partner and the few relationships he entertained were brief and seemed to be the result of experimentation than a real desire for companionship.

“I remember when your father asked for ya,” Kup spoke aloud once more, picking clean rag to polish the barrel of his rifle.

Mirage looked up from his book with a small smile, having heard this tale more times than he could count, yet never growing bored of hearing it. It was, after all, the story of his life time.

“He was just a youn’ punk back then, fresh outta the Academy and just back from his very first expedition out of Praxian lands, he saw so many happy families on other places that he longed one, but he knew he couldn’t just rush love.” Kup chuckled, picking a a long, thick cleaning instrument and holding it between his dental plates. “But he wanted someone else in his life other than ol’ me, and went to Sunstorm...I almost ripped off his platin’ for that.”

Mirage smiled fondly, leaning better against the wall of the window sill he used as perch. “I’m glad you didn’t, though. I quite prefer my father with some armor on.”

Kup laughed around his new makeshift accessory. “He made a pretty convincing case so I let him go but I warned I’d adopt ya myself if he didn’t take good care of you.”

“I assure you grand father, that no one could have taken better care of me than he did.” Mirage was not lying. Somehow, someway, Skyfire always managed to keep his promises to Mirage and had always managed to give him all the love and attention he could need or want even during his absences.

“Skyfire’s a soft spark. All too gentle and kind...I knew you'd had him smitten the moment Sunstorm called him to show him your spark, if you could have seen his face when he was back. I don’t think I’ve seen a mech so in love with a baby spark.”

Mirage chuckled against his knuckles, always trying to imagine his father’s expression but always feeling like he was coming short. Mirage truly believed no mech ever would be able to love him as strongly as Skyfire did, and it was one of the reasons he had never entertained the thought of a serious romantic relationship or mate.

While Mirage was quite a promiscuous mech in the matters of interfacing, he’d never been emotionally bound to his partners noble or slave alike. Interfacing was fun and he’d never say no to an attractive mech that approached him nor would he deny himself the pleasures of any of his family’s slaves that caught his fancy. But as far as the Valkyrie noble was concerned, the only mech that’d ever truly love him was his father, a perfectly innocent love from a father to the sparklet Primus conceded to him.

“Telling the same story again, father? I would have thought you’d get bored of explaining in detail how enamored I was and still am with my perfect son, who is definitely not little anymore.”

Skyfire’s voice had Mirage’s face brightening and off his seat in no time. “Father, welcome home.” Mirage rushed to hug Skyfire, who easily lifted the young mech to his chest to return the embrace.

Kup watched them with a grin, easily able to replace the image of the now adult Mirage with that of a little sparkling toddling his way to his towering father. He always felt reassured that he did a good job raising Skyfire and what hand he had in helping to raise Mirage whenever he saw how close these mechs were.

“It’s good to be back home. My trip extended far more than I originally expected, but the results were worthy, it was a very interesting and productive trip.” Skyfire explained as he set Mirage down. “And as I promised, I brought a couple of presents for you.”

“I’m glad to hear your trip was as fruitful as you expected, father.” Mirage noticed someone was outside the door waiting but paid no mind to the mech, thinking it was one of the usual slaves Skyfire took with him for his expeditions. “What kind of gifts?”

“Just a few small trinkets I thought you’d like.” Skyfire stepped aside and gestured the slave to come forth.

Mirage raised an optic brow when a Slave he never saw before stepped into the room, holding a box with what the young noble assumed were the gifts, smiling gently as he bowed politely and offered him the box.

“Oh, I also found myself acquiring a new aide and excellent tracker.” Skyfire nodded towards the new mech. “Mirage, this is Hound.”
