Markers, I has them!

The ever lovely mmouse15 sent me ten art markers since I've been dying to try them out, and they arrived today, and I just had to give them a go. Beware it's the first time I actually use art markers, especially to color. But before... obligatory food pictures! XP

I promised snugsbunny I'd take a picture of the traditional mexican 'Pan de Muerto'. And here I am, unable to eat any yet. *sob*

A close up, and the fabric for my mom's kitchen courtains. We're beginning to get the house ready for Halloween/Día de Muertos.

Here are the new art supplies I got. The double ended Art Markers that mmouse15 sent me. A white gel pen I got, and a white wax crayon I like to use for a few effects. That thing in the corner is my 'new' Cell phone. Those who read my personal journal... that's the one that was infested of glittery gifs.

Also, the wonderful __wilderness__ sent me bebe Shrapnel and Bebe Magnus. I'll get a proper photoshoot for them soonish.

Onto poppin' my marker-cherry. I decided to draw Smokescreen as his color scheme actually used several of the colors mmouse15 sent me. This is my Smokescreen from Imperium Cybertronium.

A close up before ruinin' the thing with my marker newbieness.

And here's the finished product. I learned a few things with this: 1) At least with these markers I should color before I trace the thicker border/outline. The markers pick the cheaper and crappier ink from that black marker. 2) My gel pen is a little too 'wet', and doesn't have enough viscousity tho prevent the marker ink to absorb/be absorbed by the white gel ink, thus my high lights are not nearly as clear and defined as I wish they were. 3) I need to be more orderly in how I fill with the color to avoid overlay marks as much as possible.

And a clearer close up. The jagged and out-of the outline brown bits are intentional. Since I didn't have any gray markers at hand, I used the palest blue to shade Smokescreen's face plates. I intend to acquire eventually blendable markers, but meanwhile I want to learn as much as I can with these. These are actually pretty fun.

Drawn in a 5.5 x 8.5 sketchbook. Sketched with a 0.5 mechanical pencil, inked with Staedler liners, the thicker outline was made with a cheap fine-point Paper Mate black marker/pen. Colored with Tombo ABT art markers, White Sakura Gelly Roll pen, and white wax crayon.

I think I'm going to give away the original sketch... I wonder if anyone wants it? eerian_sadow claimed the pic. Sorry gaiz D:
