Robespierre

There's something about old couples that makes me smile.
I work at a cafe and this old couple comes in. The lady wanders up and is like "I want a chocolate malt... do you have that? Or like a chocolate milkshake?" and as she finished her question, her husband waddled over next to her (he had a cane) and just kind of stood there. I saw he had a hearing aid of some sort in both his ears. She kind of smiled up to him and asked what he wanted.
...Just the idea of two people being together for so long... and even though their bodies are beginning to shut down and the end of their life is approaching, they still love. They still act is if they're 23 years old and they're steppin' out for a good 'ol 'chocolate malt' (which I was able to make for them). I'm sure they've been through a lot-- wars and depressions and terrorist attacks and all. Yet they still have each other.
...or they met each other thanks to eHarmony. com and it was their first date.
Either way, they still exuded a youth that defied their physical age.
And that was more refreshing than any drink I could make.
