Ukraine and the consequences of Soviet propaganda
Today was the Friday before Victory Day. And, of course, they made a political TV-show. Oh, and to everyone who doesn't know "Ukraine's Communist Party unveiled on Wednesday a monument to Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin". That's just insane! Seriously, I could imagine myself living in the same city with the murderer of over 30 million people. But that's not the point. Hopefully, the monument will be exploded by fanatics soon and nothing like this will ever repeat itself in Ukraine.
Back to Stalinism. It should be criminally prosecuted, like nazism or denial of the Holocaust(which is legal in this country). All Stalinists are either slaves who need a master, or people who are either seriously misinformed or just pure liars. First, the truth should be told to them, and if they keep their views, they should be made to shut up.
Man is cosmo-political by nature. Migrations have always been the driving force of progress. Politics, however, demand patriotism. And one should love his/her country for something, right? Well, our propagandists think Ukraine has nothing to offer but "fields that are always full of flowers" and "people who always sing". Oh, and the Ukrainian language, of course. Nobody talks about democracy and freedom of speech, because those were absent in the USSR and the propaganda mechanism hasn't changed. Except now, to be Ukrainian I have to sing songs and speak Ukrainian. Fuck you! I don't do that. I believe the sky is beautiful everywhere but in the polluted industrial cities of Ukraine. I don't speak Ukrainian. I hate folk songs and folk dancing, Honestly, those are primitive and ugly. And I'm ethnically a Jew. Does that forbid me to be Ukrainian?
What they can't understand is that Ukraine is very big and incredibly diverse. And that is wonderful. And we shouldn't strive to be unique. All Western countries are similar, however the Soviet Union was one-of-a-kind. And was that a good thing? We must admit that, due to our socialist past, we are 50 years behind Europe in development, and we must try our best to catch up to them instead of screaming how we're the best, no matter how we live. Because that is bullshit!
Another thing that annoys me is racism. Not antisemitism, but nationalism which is based on racism. When a teacher in class tells you that, the Ukrainian people are smart, because they are a product of the mixing of blood, arises the question,"Does that mean that Kalmikians or Gypsies are stupid?" Does that even come close to normal?
