A Bathroom Surprise
My workmate Nester comes out of the bathroom and calls over to me "Bob, can you come here for a second?"
I ask, "What, you want to show me some surprise!?"
Nester does not say anything and I walk over. He points out the window to the top of the light pole about 10 feet away and says "Do you see that nice looking bird there?"
I look and see a beautiful reddish bird that looks perhaps like some kind of a finch. The bird is hanging out looking at a similar looking bird on a pear tree branch next to our parking area. I can see these birds "have eyes for each other". I don't recall seeing this kind of bird before, yet I am not really a deeply bird-type person although I certainly enjoy looking at them when they are right in front of me! :)
Another workmate who is a birder looks and identifies the birds as Purple finches.
How nice of Nester to think of me when he sees something nice outside! :) He also brought me back a great nature calendar from his recent business trip to Minnetonka, Minnesota. He found it in the city hall as he was waiting for a meeting. I now have four nature calendars on the wall next to my work desk, I enjoy looking at the photos which of course change every month! Nester joked that I am a calender-whore, and I guess he is correct! ;)
