Talking to the Animals
I leave for work in the morning before Sally and before Lizzy goes to school, and the past few days I have noticed 3 gray squirrels foraging on my (small) front lawn. They seem like friends (or family) because they hang out together.
The first day they took off when I opened my front door and climbed up the only tree in the yard. The next day they were on the tree already, but I decided to speak to them and give them a neighborly morning greeting!
Today they were on the lawn and I spoke to them again, asking how they were, and wasn't it a cold day?
Two of them ran to the tree but barely climbed it, looking at me, and the third just froze where she was and looked at me. Once I was in my car, they all went back to their foraging (I guess cars are totally ignored because the are creatures that never venture onto lawns pursuing squirrels! ;).
These squirrels are my neighbors, and as long as they stay out of my house, I consider them good neighbors! And there is no need to unduly disturb the neighbors! ;)
