I really feel for Gene here. You've done an excellent job of showing how he feels for Sam and I love the relationship they have (it's my ideal for them, even though I'm usually a miserable git about them.) So, to have it end the way it does is even more gut-wrenching. Wonderful, really.

I just realized how you not only had Sam delivered to Gene as a present, but you did it with Christmas colors as well, with a green gag, red blood and white skin.
And the way Gene said that, if he couldn't have Sam back safe, he'd have the Roger Whittaker record, only to get exactly that! That broke my heart.

I've already told you this is brilliant, but I thought I'd tell you again.

Horrible, brilliant but god awful. The way you included the prompt was brilliant and I love the way you write Sam and Gene together. The Gene perspective was heart breaking because of the hints of what is going to happen, and even though it's expected it doesn't make it hurt any less when Gene finds Sam.
Heart-breaking and brilliant.
