Seeking Answers

Jun 22, 2010 22:51

I haven't been managing to write a lot lately, either poetry or prose, but I did recently write this, and while I don't think it's my best work, I figured I'd post it anyway. Feel free to complement, criticize, ignore, or otherwise treat as you will.

In this strange world we call our own
In which we wander each alone
To find a path as yet unseen
Between what will or what has been,
I’ve often sought myself to find
Within the tumult of my mind
Or in the world beyond my eyes,
From deepest Earth to farthest skies,
A way above the common fray
Of all our doubts of day to day,
A way that leads to answers true
Some old confirmed and others new
And writ upon reality
For any doubter there to see.
I aim that one day I may see
The universe revealed to me,
To me and all humanity
To marvel at its majesty.
The goal is more a dream than true
Too much it is for any to
Perceive all things entirely,
And hold at once infinity.
The path, however, ‘s much the same
To learn at first of whence I came,
And when I know what came before,
To seek for yet a farther shore
And with an awestruck eye to see
The book of all reality,
As we from nature answers glean,
Turn open pages yet unseen.
