I got a little bored a couple of days ago. I went into Seattle and stopped at Easy Street Records. I bought four Barenaked Ladies CDs since I had fallen behind on them. I got Barenaked Ladies Are Me, Barenaked Ladies Are Men, Snacktime! and Talk To The Hand: Live In Michigan. The first two are their first studio albums after leaving the Reprise record label. Snacktime! is an album of children's music, and the last included a DVD of the performance. I also picked up Karma Lounge, a 3-CD set of downtempo electronica from Bar de Lune records. I have several of their other sets and have enjoyed them all. Finally, I got a used copy of Bruce Cockburn's Humans. It's an old favorite of mine but I've never had it on CD, only LP and cassette.
I then went down to Uwajimaya and Kinokuniya to pick up some manga. I bought volumes 2 through 5 of Umi no Misaki, the current manga by Kou (Ai Yori Aoshi) Fumizuki. I've been reading it online so I wanted to support the artist. I already had volume 1. I also got the lastest issue of "Nostalgic Hero", my favorite car magazine, and all 6 issues of Yotsuba&!, the new release from Yen Press. Since I already had all five volumes of ADV's release, I only really needed to buy volume 6, but again, I wanted to show my support for Yen Press for saving the title. Also, volumes 1 through 5 have entirely new translations, so comparing the two will be interesting.
When I got home, I realized I already had volume 2 of Umi no Misaki. So the next day, I drove back into town. I took the truck since it needed gas and a quart of oil. I exchanged it for volume 7 of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. I used to have the whole set, but gave them away to someone who needed it more than I did. I only ever replaced volume 1, so it was time to get the rest, but they only had volume 7 in stock. So I've ordered the rest. I then got something to eat at the Uwajimaya food court. Their green bean chicken is so good, it always makes me feel better. So there I was, at the Asian food court in the Japanese grocery store, listening to downtempo music from India while wearing my cowboy boots and hat. I'm quite the international man.
A little over a month ago, I went to a car show. I took lots of pictures. You can read about it
here. In fact, that's where most of my online writing is going.
