International lolita day, December 2011

Dec 06, 2011 12:51

A couple of us visited the Pembroke Room at the Lowell Hotel to celebrate the day and relax. It turned out to be a lovely place! The lighting, the decorations, the intimate size of the room-- everything about the ambiance of this venue was lovely and relaxing.

Here's our group:

Bianca and Petrina (probably commiserating over wedding planning):

Amelia!

Jean and Kelsey~

Here's one of our delicious tiered tea trays-- notice the addition of Christmas cookies:

The staff of the Pembroke Room offered us champagne, compliments of the chef ♥ It's not the first time this has happened to me, but I was surprised and pleased! Here's Amelia, gosicku champagne forever:

Bianca, looking content:

Petrina XDDD

Jean and Kelsey, who never disappoint when I say, "GIVE IT MORE CHEESE" haha:

Before we left, a few of us took photos by the decorated mirror.

Thanks for coming, ladies! I want to go back sometime for brunch and completely fill the room XDD If anyone wants to use the photos for daily_lolita or anything, please use the full-sized images here: http://imgur.com/a/stQMf#0

The day before the event, I meandered through an 8-hour craft marathon so I could complete THIS:

I made the bonnet entirely from cannibalized materials I already had in my closet... a straw bonnet (used as the base), a velvet skirt for material, gathered black lace from an already-picked-over Innocent World skirt, an old georgette scarf for the bow, and rose corsages from Belle et Bete and Victorian Maiden:

The entire thing is handsewn except for the base, which I glued because I was running out of time. I'm really pleased with the result, so I think I'll try making some more bonnets (especially a cream one because that will go with almost everything I own). XD

I also made some little items for the meetup's gift exchange (although I derpily forgot to bring them with me... yeah e_e;;;;). A combination brooch and hair accessory:

and a little witch broom pen:
