It ended up being a flea market weekend for me! On Saturday, Zoh and I had an Antiquing + Avengers day. I picked her up at the Hamilton train station and drove us to Lambertville's
Golden Nugget Antique Market. It was huge! Every time we thought we had reached the end, a new vista of tables would appear. We didn't even get the chance to see everything, but I think we made out like bandits. Here's my haul:
I took a few closeup photos too (as always, just click on them to see the larger versions). First and perhaps best, a Kay Nielsen art book! Being a fan of fairy tale illustrations, I was pretty happy to find this. The marbleized paint on the cover and the pasted-on title plate give this book a handmade feel.
Many of the prints are full color pages only lightly attached to the book. Here's one of my favorites:
Zoh and I saw a $0.25 table with some lace remnants on it, so of course we went for it XD I found this antique lace collar with interesting woven sections the like of which I haven't seen before. I need to steam it back into shape, but otherwise it's in pretty good condition.
I also bought a beautiful metal filigree hair slide I found in a big bin of costume jewelry. When I was a child, I usually wore my hair in a half-ponytail with a barrette like this. ::nostalgia::
This little faux stained glass window was too good to pass up at the price of $3! The design isn't genuine stained glass and there's a giant crack in it, but it looks beautiful against sunlight.
When we finished looking at the antiques market, we headed into Lambertville proper for lunch at the
Full Moon Cafe, a little restaurant I highly recommend to anyone visiting that area. This place serves breakfast all day, so I had the "Sea Isle Scram"-- an egg dish with crab, tomato, brie, and scrambled eggs-- but didn't get photos because it was a bit dark inside the cafe. Delicious ;o;
After lunch, we walked across the bridge to New Hope to visit some witchy shops and look for more antiques. We stopped in at
Love Saves the Day and I found a cute 90s floral dress:
We also admired some flowers and bits of greenery in the area:
Then we stopped in a little memorabilia + antique store called
Terri's Gifts where I found a little tiered tray that I can't wait to use for afternoon tea scones or petit fours:
The cut-outs remind me of folk art designs:
When we were done shopping for the day, we headed to
Teaberry's Tea Room in Flemington, NJ with the idea of getting some relaxing tea, but that idea morphed into lavender lemonade as soon as we got there. It was so refreshing that I'd like to try making it at home this summer :3
I also ordered a delicious garden salad (this was the petite version @n@)...
... and a beyond delicious Black Forest Ham sandwich. I order this sandwich EVERY TIME I go to Teaberry's and I never regret it. It's black forest ham with sauteed apples + raisins, melted brie, and rye bread. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Truly, it remains the pinnacle of sandwiches for me.
After our meal, Zoh and I headed to the movie theaters to see Avengers again. This was my third time and her second, but we agreed that this film bears multiple viewings well. Very well. It may be my favorite superhero movie of all time. Thor spends a lot of time chuckling ♥
On Sunday, I visited Philadelphia's Punk Rock Flea Market for the first time. I hung out with Kara and her sister Genni, met some friendly people, and browsed a plethora of tables loaded with handmade crafts, art, used clothes, vinyl, books, and food. If my experience reflects what this market is usually like, I'm going back every time ♥ I found so many great things!
First, a cute/creepy vintage porcelain hand I intend to use for a jewelry display at artist alley tables. I'd been looking for a vintage display like this for a while, but the shipping cost was always driving up the price online so I feel pretty lucky to have found it!
Next, a 1970s calico prairie skirt. I love maxi-length skirts, and this one is in good condition despite its age:
The beautiful smocked waistband is what originally caught my attention!
At the same stall, I also bought a vintage tasseled shawl I liked. The color is a lovely mix of rose, peach, and that milk tea shade Innocent World loves to use.
There were a lot of beautiful used t-shirts being sold, so I spent some time looking for one that was just right and ended up with a creeper Star Wars shirt. Check out Anakin creeping over the shoulder of his future self ♥
I feel like that image would work well with
the SHH JUST COME meme, which I still think is funny. ;o;
I also bought a cute broken doll brooch:
and a vintage Irish tatted lace handkerchief:
After going over the market a couple of times, I went home and ate homemade angel food cake and strawberries with my mom to celebrate Mother's Day. I hope everyone else on my f-list had a good weekend too! Tell me about it if you like ~~
