Upon finishing the 7th and final book. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
I am still deciding if that is my favorite book of all time yet. As far as Harry Potter goes, it was absolutely my favorite, hands down. J.K. Rowling is an imensly talented writer and only someone with very careful dedication and planning could have pulled everything together the way she did. So much action it was hard for me to read slowly. I loved it.
However as always I have further comments and questions. If you have read the last book, and I'll just take your word for it, go ahead and read further comments, and feel free to put in your own input.
Well I really like how J.K. Rowling also watches the movies, and as read from a forum chat, she also got some of her ideas for the last two books in the movies.
For example Ron and Hermonie's relationship. Which I was glad that it finally came into something, but it was extremely awkward in both feeling and how they displayed it.
The 7th Horcrux being Harry, it absoluely amazed me. I do not yet fully understand it all. I need little more explanation. Was Harry's scar the part where Voldemort's final part of soul attached itself? Was the creature in Kings Cross what happens to Voldemort once he finally dies?
Is King's Cross a place between life and the afterlife? In other words, is it heaven?
Neville Longbottom = freakin awesome! I didn't know that Neville was such a feisty guy! It amazes me!
The Elder wand and Draco Malfoy, I need a bit more explanation. And what on earth did Draco think he was doing? Its true he doesn't have the total heart to be a death eater.
Why is there no mention of Snape's portrait in the Headmaster's office?
Lastly, the thing I wish to discuss in most detail, Severus Snape. So he was good after all and made the ultimate sacrifice.
But his love for Lily Evans wow! I never would have guessed. My heart ached for Severus Snape. He never sacrificed for her while she was alive, so he dedicated the rest of his life to protecting her son out of love for her. Why didn't he tell her? Probably because he never had anybody to love him and was not used to showing such emotion. But upon looking at his thoughts in the Pensieve, it is so obvious that he loved her, even from an early age.
Were they only best friends? Was there any more?
Is Lily now aware of his love for her now that they have passed into the afterlife?
I wish Severus could have that love. Yeah this sounds pathetic, but I wonder how he would be different if S.S. had the guts to tell L.E. his true feelings.
The two people it appears that Snape really cared about and respected were Lily and Dumbledore, that he helped Dumbledore in every event. And those were the people who cared for and stood at his side as well. That he Even went through with killing one he cared about for the good of the Wizard community before he had any idea of how it would play out. I am in total awe of all learned about Severus Snape, and it really saddened me not only that he never shared his true feelings before death, but also that he had to die in such a cruel manner.
And his 'worst memory' now makes sense. Not where he is ridiculed by James by his own spell. But the other part, where Lily tries to defend him and he calls her that nasty name. He is ashamed of calling somebody he loved that especially after she had been so friendly to him., and I don't think he ever forgave himself.
And he must be tortured by Harry, because Harry has his mother's eyes, but the rest of him looks like his father... whom Snape was jealous of. It makes so much sense now.
And Why was there no mention of his portrait in the Headmaster's office? I have such a strange obsession with Snape from this book that I am considering naming a child Severus. I'll probably come to my senses when I finally have kids, but yeah.
And I hated the epilogue! I don't want the story to end like that. I hated it, Rowling may have just as well left it at the last chapter. I want to know what people are doing in the afterlife. I want to see Ginny and Harry get married before reading about their kids.
J.K. Rowling had better damn well answer some questions and fill in some details between the book ending and the epilogue!
