I'm so glad you liked it!
I felt a bit sorry for Martha in the beginning. Both of my parents decided to quit smoking (cold turkey, no less!) at the same time when I was about 12 and I tell you -- it was not a fun time! Even my mother (who is usually quiet and sweet) was a terror! O_o
Anyway, I also liked that Martha took things into her own hands and made things better between them -- in a very delicious way, too! :)

My Dad started cutting down, and then suddenly went cold turkey. Fortunately I wasn't around at the time as I was here in Oxford doing my first degree so I missed the trauma!

John was really a grumpy-grump, wasn't he? LOL!
I was glad to have the opportunity to show a different side of him (I really worry that he comes off as too ideal sometimes), though, as well as being able to show some emotional repercussions in Martha about her experiences with things like the Pharm.

I did actually use a "Secret Smile" sound clip in the fanmix and, as a joke, I actually considered the famous "filthy line," but it is so heavily associated with Brendan that I didn't think it would work right.
Don't worry about being long-winded -- I am just happy that you are still enjoying the series! After the last fic got so few responses, I honestly worried that people were starting to get bored with John/Martha stories!
Oh, and you'll be happy to know that I've already started on another story (this one is John/Ten) and hope to have that done in the next week or so (I'm about to be out of town next week, so I'll do my best!).

Hee! Well, I hope that you like it. It will based on ebbyzone's prompt here and I've already got a little bit of it written. For a meme recently, I even posted this excerpt from the beginning (here it is to whet your appetite):
