I get out of bed, woozy and nursing a cup of coffee, and I find that you've already have the 2nd part up! This is turning out to be a great morning!

I was kinda thrown into a loop when I read that part about the Doctor knowing about their role-play tryst. Honestly, I'd be still mad at him, especially since the whole thing was private and personal.

Yeah, that was all a bit awkward, but I think that Martha, despite feeling angry and violated, knew that the Doctor didn't mean any harm by it (in fact, as he said, it wasn't even something he could ignore). I just don't think that the Doctor really gets the social protocols for things like that as an alien and, honestly, it's probably not a situation he's had a lot of experience with in the past.

But I felt so awkward for him, believing that John was only a replacement for him when in truth she loves him for not being a replacement.

I could easily see him making that mistake, especially when companions have left him in the past specifically for "replacements" (ex. Jo Grant). Plus, I mean, it's got to be a bit odd to not see Martha for a year and then when you see her again, she is involved with a doctor who looks almost identical to him (save for looking younger -- as DT played John about 8 years ago -- and a different style of dress).

It would have been lazy as an author to not bring up the fact that they look so much like one other and, even further, any misconceptions that can/should go along with that. The Doctor, bless his heart, seems like someone who would totally think that Martha is just dating John because he looks like him.
