I went down to Lake Balboa yesterday to visit with Calicougar and walk around the lake. Since it was the weekend there were 50 billion people there, but it was nice to visit and get out of the house. The lake now has several mute swans living in it, plus the ubiquitous millions of coots, American wigeons, the lone Ross' goose, and a mix of domestic and wild mallards. Lots of dogs, generally little rat dogs, or pit bulls. One person had some sort of horrible giant fighting dog, I think a cane corso (sp?). I think we also saw an Anatolian shepherd.
On the way home I encountered a douchebag who would try to get people to go faster, or intimidate them out of the way, by rushing up behind them and riding their ass really close. Once I got beyond the initial surprise of having someone suddenly appear about two feet away in my review mirror, I had to laugh. He thinks he's going to intimidate me, in my beat-up old car, with his fancy new car? You wanna risk rear-ending me? I don't think so. I've been driving these freeways for over 20 years, and it takes a lot more than that to rattle me any more. I deal with people like this either by going really, really slow, or holding at exactly the speed limit. Either way they get pissed off and go around me, which is exactly what happened. Oh you people, so predictable!
