[written, but carefully scribbled out. probably readable if you try way too hard.]

Capell... I've found them. Would you care to play?

[action]

[Martel had gotten bored just lying around, even if Kratos did tell her it was best to rest a couple of days. So she had gone and found her panpipes and seated herself in the grass behind her house. For a ( Read more... )

[have a Martel who really hoped he would. Slow, careful script:]

Indeed. They were... just where you said I'd find them.

I'm glad.

Can I hear you play?

Of course. If you'd like. I'm at home.

[don't give up on her, Capell. She might be a little icy now, but she's hurting too.]

I'll ask father if I can come over.

[He won't. He promised to take care of her.]

[So she sets the journal down again and resumes playing her panpipes.]

[And permission is granted. Capell leaves the house and goes straight to Martel's. Right away he spots her in the grass, and walks over. She's already playing so he simply listens as he takes a seat.]

[As with the others, she senses his approach. She doesn't know what he thinks of her... Worst case scenario, it could range anywhere from hurt that everything had been an experiment to disgust that she'd been so forward. So she closes her eyes and continues to play, even as he sits down beside her. It's a slower song, though more a lullaby than a ballad.]

[Right now he was just glad she hadn't told him to go away when he first wrote to her. He stays in his spot, listening to the notes of the lullaby. Its very pretty, and soft. As she plays, his fingers move over the holes of his flute at his side in time, matching her silently.]

[She'd never send you away, Capell. In fact, she might be playing for a while, so you should help yourself and play along.]

[He's picking up on the pattern of her notes, and then picks up his flute. Bringing it to his lips, he begins to play as well.]

[She's smiling now, but is trying not to, because the change in her lips' shape threatens to interrupt her playing. Moreso with Capell and his flute than with anyone simply listening, she wants to keep from erring. Luckily she succeeds, and enjoys the wordless companionship of two musicians at play.]

[Capell keeps in time with her until the end of the song. As the last notes drift away, he lowers his instrument and looks over at her, a smile showing up on his lips.]

That was really pretty.

Indeed. You play very well.

[Well, they're both smiling, but it's still not how it used to be. Of course, that was mid-experiment... Now, Martel's job was to figure out how things should be.]

Thanks, you do too. [He leans over a bit to observe the panpipes.]

Are those hard to play?

[The question takes her by surprise. She glances over her panpipes, turning them over in her hands.]

I'm not sure. I've played them for so long that it's difficult to recall when I actually learned to play.

[After a moment, she held them out to him. He seemed to want to look them over at least, though she wouldn't object if he tried to play.]
