I wonder what "extra virgin" smells like...
Learning from yesterday's filmfest experience with paigan, I came in early today to see The Perfume. Twenty minutes past one and there was already about 50 people in front of me! Lots of teens, artfilm aficionados (with the whole artsy outfit going on) and geeks. How can many people find out about *my porn*? What made the waiting longer was that the French insisted on seeing some identification before giving them free passes for some "Rated R for aberrant behavior involving nudity, violence, sexuality, and disturbing images."
Anyway, what once was thought unfilmable by Kubrick has now found its way to celluloid and done its job. Don't expect it to be scratch and sniff but it doesn't need to be if you've read the book, really. Personally, I liked it a lot. Thankgod! Grenouille wasn't Orlando "3 facial expressions" Bloom. Ben Whishaw has that awkward human demeanor that for playing someone so ghastly, he sure does make him sympathetic. Also, I so do not remember that boinking en masse towards the end! Supermassiveorgy! And Kubrick thought it was unfilmable... Dustin Hoffman made me laugh(i'm not sure whether that was an insult or not), Alan Rickman, how can he ever go wrong? And John Hurt totally got the narration down, specifically, the ending.

Mwahahaha! on this trivia: The actual liquid of the "ultimate" perfume at the end is a mixture of coke thinned with a bit of water.
By the by, we saw the oh-so-cute Arthur and the Invisibles yesterday. Luc Besson directs but doesn't everybody have a bit of Jim Henson in them these days? (Fraggle rock! Labyrinth!) paigan, Jason Bateman is Darkos! The son of evilMmmDavid Bowie(or is it Pierce Brosnan? Hee.)
Met up for internship session #1. Found out that I'll be stationed Friday nights in the neighborhood, (instead of the big school's community sandbox) for which some people hate me for. Alas, I say to them, "My community needs service..." This also means, no more waking up early on Saturdays for me!
Overwhelmed with things to do, had lunch after with Bootychic, Meux and her friend. The friend, I learn, used to work with Tzen. (Memo to me: Remember Tzen? Tzen, who was real kind to me? My mentor? Yeah, she's ALL lies.) Friend confirms Tzen's the reason why she(as did others) left Tzen's sandbox. Tzen has quite the attitude problem and is a pain to be with... There goes a chip in the wall of comfort again...I feel so duped!
