Tumblr m-type thing (hear me speak; and then read from The Silmarillion)

Over at Tumblr, people are passing around a meme about how you pronounce certain words and what words you use - soda vs. pop, etc. My answers:

You can see the full meme here. I found it pretty fun and so if people want to do it I hope they will and will leave a comment here so I can hear your voice as well. But in the audio I promised to give a text versions of those words I read off. They were:

Pronounce the following words: Aunt, Roof, Route, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Pajamas, Caught, Naturally, Aluminium, GIF, Tumblr, Crackerjack, Doorknob, Envelope, GPOY.

Tech tip for the folks doing this: Soundcloud.com makes it fairly easy to both record and embed audio, though you do need a [free] account, and I'm not entirely sure it's possible to embed audio without it being available to anyone on that site. You can also record the audio using whatever program comes standard on your machine and then upload the file to a cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive and just give people a link they can download.

One of the questions was to choose a book and read a passage from it. It would have helped to have read the full list of questions before starting the audio, but I didn't so I came back to it. I've been rereading the Silmarillion, so I read a part from the Ainulindale (which I may have messed up and called the Valaquenta at some point), and talked a bit before and after about what I found so interesting about it.

As a sidenote, I now have a lot more respect for podficcers and just people who read books. Keeping up the concentration to read out loud for any length of time is a lot more difficult than I would have thought!
