November 4th

I love my polling place. It's in an old Chicago billiard hall.

The atmosphere here in Chicago is quiet but cooperative and slightly festival-like today. Some of the precinct guys said there was a line outside of the polling place this morning at 5:30 am. One of them said when they opened and let people in the first woman in line gave him a hug.

These folks are part of the ward team that goes to do wellness checks on the elderly and shut-ins every winter. Apparently even those who won't answer their doors in the winter and who the neighbors have never seen have come out today to vote. A lot of people taking pictures of their ballots and their voting reciepts.
