Can I get a job as an anti-costumer?

I don't know that I really want to be a costumer any more, at least not the way I have been pursuing it. Maybe I could get a job as an anti-costumer...not sure what that would be. Maybe helping people get dressed in the most boring clothes possible? Maybe someone who exterminates costumers? Maybe someone that removes costumes from people? Someone ( Read more... )

have you thought about graduate school? not a permanent solution, of course, but i only ask because allison asked me if you were going or had thought about going, when i told her you were working, getting jobs here and there. i don't know if the two thoughts were related.

there's nothing wrong with changing your mind about what you'd like to do and trying something different, and you're in a good position-- living at home and not having any school debt-- for trying things out. maybe you could start a business making wedding dresses or renfaire outfits or something and selling them online. or maybe you could look at working at a tailor's or as the tailor for a dry cleaner? random, i know, but i'm trying.

have you thought about moving for a job (like, if there was a theatre looking for a costume director...)? you might be able to find better/more work in a different location-- not necessarily NYC or LA, either. i doubt there are many costumers vying for jobs in bumfuck PA or WV or any other undesirable location, and not many looking to work there, either, b/c it's in the middle of nowhere.

or you could do something completely different, like rach is (going to prague to teach english). you've got a comm. degree, too, you know. advertising, marketing, writing, graphic design-- these are all things you could get a job doing. what about editing? or working for a news station? a couple freelance articles for the paper and you've got a reporting background. working for a news station would have regular hours at least (even if they were weird hours).

experiment!
