After interviewing Jay & Silent Bob, Veronica decides to stop at the Perk and grab a coffee to go. She has a feeling it's going to be a long night.
Evelyn is sitting at a corner booth and drinking her tea. She smiles at Veronica when she sees her come in.
Veronica notices the dark haired girl in the corner as she's walking out. She thinks that she's on the list of people she wanted to talk to. No time like the present, she says to herself, walking over.
"Hey, you're Evelyn right? I'm Veronica Mars."
Evelyn smiles and nods. "Hello, Veronica. Have a seat?"
"Thanks," Veronica says, sitting opposite her. "I have a kind of strange question for you. I heard you were at Spike's a few weeks ago and something weird happened."
Evelyn bites her lip. "Yeah, something very weird happened. It had me seriously scared for about twenty-four hours."
Veronica leans close and lowers her voice. "Do you know *what* happened? What do you remember?"
Evelyn closes her eyes and then opens them again. "I think we were drugged. I was at the Pub and this guy was hitting on Chloe. Then there was this white fog substance that we were lost in for a few moments." Evelyn clenches her hands at her sides. "I spent the next twenty-fours hours running from a man with a knife."
"The guy hitting on Chloe, did he have long blonde hair and a foul mouth?"
Evelyn nods. "Incredibly foul. He kept offering her something besides alcohol to relax her." She smiles. "His friend was a sweetheart. Seemed to be annoyed with his antics."
Veronica rolls her eyes. "I met them earlier. He got the drugs from someone else." She pauses and then asks, "You said you spent the next twenty four hours running from a man with a knife. I assume you mean that you hallucinated that?
Evelyn tightens her hands on her tea mug and then nods, looking at Veronica. "Yeah, all I saw was a bloody hand clutching a bloody knife." She swallows. "I never saw a face, but the terror was real."
With a sympathetic smile, Veronica says, "I'm sure it was. Did you seek any medical treatment?"
Evelyn shakes her head. "I was afraid to."
"That's understandable," Veronica says. "Listen, besides Chloe, Jay & Bob, do you remember seeing anyone else in Spike's that night?"
Evelyn thinks for a moment. "Han," she finally says. "He got me calmer in Study Hall and he has checked on me a couple of times since then." She sighs. "He believed me when I told him what I saw."
Veronica nods. She knows him from business class. She adds him to her mental list of people to possibly interview. "What about a blonde girl in leather?"
Evelyn shakes her head. "No. That I would definitely remember."
"Okay." Veronica stands. "Thanks for your time, Evelyn. If you remember anything else from that night, would you let me know?"
Evelyn nods. "Of course, Veronica."
Veronica smiles and leaves. She doesn’t know if she’s any closer to figuring anything out.
