Graduation was coming up this weekend finally and Veronica couldn't believe she was done with college

There were a couple people she possibly should have called first. But tonight, she figured the most important was someone that really needed to know.

So V's phone would be ringing just about then...

"Hello?" Veronica said, sounding slightly exasperated since she didn't recognize the number and assumed it was another fed.

There is a short sad chuckle before Cally spoke. "You able to lend an old friend a couple hundred bucks?" she said, deciding to be a little bit of a smartass.

There was a pause as Veronica took the time to process that voice.

"Holy shit, Cally, is that you?"

"If it's not, I want to know which of the lords of Kobol I pissed off to live her life the past three years," Cally said. "Hi Veronica."

[marsheadtilt]

"Okay, well as not good as that sounds, I have to say that it's wonderful to hear your voice again after so long," Veronica said. "We were all pretty disappointed when we realized we couldn't contact you."

"I'm not sure if that happened before or after the... you know, I can't even joke about that stuff," Cally admitted, sighing a little bit. "But I'm back now. And I figured you were the go-to so I can get all the catch-up gossip in one go."

[marsheadtilt]

"Back as in back in contact or back as in back on Earth?" Veronica asked.

[nomoreveruca]

"I'm on the island again," Cally said. "And I'm, uh, not alone."

Well, time to drop the bombshell she had to.

"I've got a kid."

[marsheadtilt]

Well, that wasn't anything Veronica expected to hear.

"Oh, wow. Uh, congratulations."

She wanted to ask a million questions but she was getting the sense that Cally had had a rough time.

"I've got some interesting news of my own, actually. I got married last year."

That wasn't anything Cally expected to hear.

"To who?" she said, partially worried and partially curious.

[marsheadtilt]

"Did you ever meet Dick Casablancas?" Veronica asked. She couldn't remember if he had shown up in Fandom before or after Cally left. "He's from Neptune but not the same one as me and Logan."

"I think so," Cally said, but it had been a long time. "He lived up to his name, right?" Vague inklings ran around her brain.

[marsheadtilt]

Veronica chuckled. "Yeah, pretty much. He's grown up a lot since then though."

Well, at least a little.

"But if you were serious about needing some money, I can definitely help you out."

[nomoreveruca]

"I'm crashing at a Paige's place," Cally said. "Apparently she's not Piper and Phoebe's Paige, but she's a Paige, so she's good people. But I'm gonna need a little more help landing on my feet, here. I promise I'll pay you back."

[marsheadtilt]

"Don't worry about it," Veronica said. "I'll wire you money first thing tomorrow and maybe come to visit next week? I'm graduating from college this weekend. Or you can come out here and visit. A bunch of us are living at the Hyperion in LA now."
