Hey, Adstringendum. I've got a question.
[Rei is sitting in a chair, in Castiel's impromptu study, with a worn book in her hands. An anthology of ghost stories. And, because of simple curiosity:]
Do you believe in ghosts?
[Scientists? What scientists? Fran is going to handle that part.]
i see dead people,
studying the spirits,
field trip to see the scientists,
so not crazy,
i want to relax dammit,
shinto priestess by day,
ghost stories are super lame

I like my books where they are, Rei.

Rei.

Calm down. They're mine. I just came in here to read. Everything you have is still in order, don't worry. I didn't touch anything.

[Meanie.]
What were you reading? Simply the ghost book?

[Not that the concept is weird, just. Considering their lives.]

[Rei shrugs a shoulder.]
I guess they're not really so terrifying when you know what's real and what isn't.

[Rei rests her chin in her palm.]
Your fears are based in the unknown much more than anything specific.

My fears are very specific. Knowing what might occur doesn't lessen it.

[Insanity. Losing control. And Rei supposes losing the people you love is a specific fear, a very real one, but she won't name them out loud when Castiel has difficulty enough coping with emotion, let alone what he fears.]
That's a lot scarier than something you can see, feel, hold. Because you don't know when it'll come.
