[The PCD turns on to show Rei in the clinic, sleeping more or less peacefully, her breathing slow and even. If you look carefully, you can see hints of bandages and injury, but most of her is wrapped soundly in a blanket

[Oh, look. You have a visitor. He's not making any noise though. He's just sitting in a chair right next to the door, long sleeves and baggy jeans helping to hide whatever he thinks he should hide.]
[And there is a dismissive wave. Actually reaching the Inner-Inner City and feeling that force, seeing things, was the painful part. Being ambushed by dinosaurs is the easy piece to get over.]
[It would hardly be fair to dismiss him when the roles have been reversed so many times. Her expression is unreadable for a long moment, the bubble equally so, before she sighs to herself, twisting herself slightly to look at him directly.]
The entire city felt wrong, like it was trying to swallow us whole. When we got to the center, I thought I wasn't going to be able to leave.
[Hitsugaya's bubble is surprisingly devoid of anything at all, has been since he entered the room.]
I was there too, you realize.
[A double meaning. He wasn't in there as long as her and Ulquiorra, granted, but she certainly doesn't need to describe the feeling. She also should know by now that the very reason he and Tsukino were there was to make sure they were able to leave.]
[Very simply, as if talking about the weather. The bubble quivers ever so slightly -- dipping as if sighing in relief or bowing in gratitude. There is no emoticon or helpful hint -- simply actions.]
[She watches him for a long moment, frowning ever so slightly. This isn't right. If there is one thing Hitsugaya is terrible at (well, at least whenever she's around), it's controlling his emotion. And lying. He's pretty terrible at lying, too.
With the event, he should be even more of an open book than he already is. But he's purposefully locking it away.
She gestures slightly for him to pull the chair closer.]
[If there were a word inside her bubble, it would read 'smartass'.]
I don't see everyone in this room, just me.
[A quiet pause as she fiddles with her PCD before she looks up again.]
Rhode came back.
[He knows. She knows he does -- he probably watched the entire post like a hawk, but Rei wants to know what's bothering him. Start with the most obvious and work your way down.]

So she'll open an eye after a minute or two to squint at him once she feels him sitting there.]
Shouldn't you be in a bed?
Reply
Probably.
[He snorts softly. He's been in bed long enough.]

She knows perfectly well what his answer is going to be, but Rei has to ask anyway:]
Are you okay?
Reply
[And there's the answer she knew she'd hear.]
I'm more concerned about you.

I wasn't worried about the dinosaurs.

[It's flat, much like everything else he's said thus far. Too flat, really, to be unintentional.]

[A brow raise. He's not moving yet.]

She did. She won't remember me. It's not a problem.
[Blatant lie. Sasuke has taken the chance to speak with her both times she's addressed the network.]

[Just a quiet observation. She knows full well that he's lying and why he's lying. They're getting somewhere. Sort of.]
