I have made a discovery.
I love Blue's Clues.
It combines everything I want in a kid's show and adds the zany musicality of my childhood and self. The messages are pretty all-encompassing: be kind, use your head and work through problems, have fun, etc. There are puzzles to solve (What is shaped like a square? Which present is ours? Which of these matches? Which face is happy? et cetera). There is constant singing of silly tunes, "We just figured out Blue's Clues 'cause we're really smart", "When we use our minds and take a step at a time we can do anything that we want to do," "Here's the mail it never fails it makes me wanna wag my tail when it comes I wanna wail MAIL!" etc
And Blue is upbeat and positive and I really enjoy Steve (we're starting @ the beginning after all). Plus, it engages both of the boys. And Nathaniel actually does engage with the show! :)
Daniel dislikes the show but is being a good sport. I love it, lol. My favorite kids' shows so far: Blue's Clues, Madeline, Eloise (both of those probably because of nostalgia), and Caillou. I also enjoy Thomas the Tank Engine and Yo Gabba Gabba in small doses. :) I know it's not about what I enjoy, but Nathan does too, and besides, I suffer through a fair amount of Diego for him ;)
In other news, I have been LOVING the sun being out lately. It gets us out of the house (although mostly just to the park, I admit), and is good for us ALL. ^_^
