Home from the beach

So, after packing the car with random essentials and a few extras (like 3 rotten cats), we *finally* left for the beach on Sunday sometime after 6. (We stopped first for Burgerville-seriously, if I have to wait for my fast food, then it doesn't qualify as FAST!) After a little initial confusion (nothing terrible, we just went the slightly longer way), we mad it to US-101S on our way to Beverly Beach. Mostly an uneventful drive, aside from Jack trying to climb into the driver's lap (and under the driver's feet), Tar being relatively angry, resentful, and restless, and Bug crying literally THE WHOLE WAY there (*meow? meow! meow? meow?* OMG!)... remind me WHY we took the cats?

We got there around 8:15/8:30 and our yurt key was waiting for us (I guess they'd stepped away from the desk). Were completely ready for the weekend by 9 (yay for no tent to set up!), and promptly started a fire. We were *supposed* to have Kielbasa and apples foil-roasted in the fire, but yours truly was an idiot and completely forgot the apples! So instead we had sausages and hot cocoa, which was also quite good. Mostly just settled in that night. I was more tired than I realized!

Woke up around 10 on Monday and had breakfast around the fire. Showered, relaxed, enjoyed the morning. Around 1ish we decided to go into Lincoln City to see what shops there were (Daniel had spied more than a few used book stores). Didn't buy anything particularly (some candy and a stack of books). Tried to help some people jump start their car (something was very wrong because it didn't do ANYTHING when they tried to turn it over, and we've gotten quite adept at jumping cars lol). Then, we drove back to the campsite (thought about getting food on the way but decided against it). Got to the campsite, ate, played cribbage, bundled up, and headed to the beach.

Got to the beach about 6 and flew a stunt kite Daniel was given by his brother last summer. I got cold (it was late and quite windy) and hid behind a large driftwood log. Snacked on munchies. After a little wrestling with it, Daniel took his kite apart and came over & we watched the sunset. Then we headed back to the campground and ate foil dinners. (It was like 10 by the time I actually ate and I was STARVING!)

Stayed up by the fire for a short while then went into the yurt, cuddled, read books.

Woke up at 7 today and had to pee like you wouldn't believe! RAN to the bathrooms, sauntered back. Fell asleep, woke up to alarm at 8. Fell asleep, woke up to alarm at 8:10....eventually, woke up to alarm at 9:15. Oh, well, it's not like leaving early was vital. On the road by 10, stopped at a Shari's-type restaurant in Lincoln City at about 10:15. We both had "kiddie-style" meals, for me, hotcakes with blackberry compote & whipped cream; for him, waffles with strawberries in syrup. OJ & coffee, respectively.

Headed out again sometime after, and got home about 1. Got into mail, unpacked car, packed fridge, and got online. Daniel, while I was packing the fridge, set up his *new* wireless router (giddily), and now we've decided to pretend we don't exist by getting online on our respective computers. ^_^

Oh, also, camera died on the first night. Got a few photos of Daniel with the yurt, cats, Daniel with the cats. Other than that, no photo-age. My apologies
