Mwahahahaa!
My mission to construct an authentic and awesome japanese kimono outfit is well under way!! I am pleased :D:D
I am also having HUGE difficulty in choosing which kimono and obi I want, so I MAY in fact now buy TWO kimono outfits... ...
I'm good with my money, so every so often I can afford these ridiculous splurges of self indulgence :D
See I was going to buy two new corsets from Cyber, but since I'm currently dieting, have lost a stone (*bows* yes thankyou thankyou! how kind! You! in the back! hush! anyway.) and I intend to lose two more stones, thus the corsets wouldnt fit after that. And I'm impatient and don't want to wait months to buy the corsets when I have monies now.
SO, two proper-ass formal kimono and two very sexy obi, may be iminent, and I may be skint :P On the upside, by the time I lose the rest of this weight, the kimono will still fit, and I'll have more monies to buy the corsets then! XD :D Yay! YAY!
So far I have already purchased the following from a couple in Kyoto, home of my favourite beloved geisha. I am teh geisha weeabu(sp?):
Obijimi - bright red silk, with gold thread through it and tassels. - This is the cord tied around the middle of the big 'belt' bit of the kimono to hold it on.
Obi Ita - the stiff beld I wear between the kimono and the obi to stop them getting all wrinkley and ghey.
Obi Makura - basically a bit of padding with some straps to fill the curve of your back or to put in the obi to help give it shape depending on how your tying it.
Erin Shin - These are stiff bits of material that you use to make the kimono collar stiff so it's not floppy and ghey.
Koshi Himo - I've actually bought a couple of these in a wee set, 100% silk, not that anyone will see them. They're the first thing you tie around the kimono once you put it on, and you use this to fix the length of the kimono to suit you by folding it over this scarf-like belt, the fold is hidden by the obi going over it.
Korin Belt - which is really just a strip of elastic with some little clips, this helps hold the kimono in place while you wear it.
And from a delightful japonz shop on E-bay:
White tabi socks, one size too small for a smooth fit XD
....So now I have all the bits that NO ONE WILL EVER SEE XD since theyre just part of the intricate trappings of the kimono, plus some socks, and a cord to tie round the obe.
Now all I need to buy are the most expensive bits. The kimono, and the obe. And an Obiage which is only a couple of pounds but I cant find a red one yet, and I want a red one to match my obijime.
Watch this space. Decisions will be made! :D
