[curled up in a plush armchair in the library, his orange jumpsuit nowhere in sight, Asher actually looks peaceful. in his lap is a copy of "The Complete Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales" he already knows most of them by heart, but it doesn't mean he enjoys them any less. the words are somehow floating above the pages, something he thought he'd never see ( Read more... )

Does it seem to have a decent history section?

That it does.

Well... depends on what kind of history you're looking for.

You didn't happen to catch sight of anything about someplace called Soul Society, did you?

[ while not expecting anything of the sort to be there, inquiring minds want to know. ]

Ah, I didn't look that closely. But the section is over there.

[points to the left. he closes the book in his own lap, setting it aside and gracefully getting to his feet]

Shall I accompany you?

I don't say no to good company! [ particularly when it meant more eyes, and hands, at her disposal. Hell, she'd prefer if she could get other people to do all the looking for her, but preferences weren't often realities. ]

[ever the gentleman, he offers his arm to the lady]

And what is this society, Miss...?

[ She accepts his arm for the hell of it; suits her mood of the moment, so to speak. ]

One of a few of the governing bodies over the souls of the dead.

There's more than one?

[stroll stroll stroll. oh hi, history section]

And does the lady have a name? Or must I give you one?

[he's smiling, just a bit]

If the 'Miss' is going to stick, then it's Matsumoto. If that drops, then it's Rangiku.

[ she winks, and looks at the shelves, eyes widening ]

Thank the powers that be for the small favors in life; at no point will I ever be volunteering to catalog so much as a percentage of this collection.

[indulgent smile]

I will call you by whatever you wish. It's just a formality; old habits die hard.

Thankfully, I think you'll never be called in to do it. I assume the computers take care of it all.

Then how about Divine Guru Rangiku? [ she grins, then shrugs. ] Rangiku will be fine.

Ah, so the computers have the filing system. It's been accurate so far?

[laughs]

I think I'll stick with Rangiku.

[gives a graceful shrug as his fingertips trail over the books]

Seems to be. I really was just searching by sight rather than technology.

Searching by whim is half the fun if you're not in a hurry. [ one of the volumes catches her eye, though she doesn't pull it off the shelf. An Annotated History of Inglorious Situations? ]

With a section this big, I wonder if histories outside of Earth are covered as well.

marredgoldfinch October 30 2008, 20:15:21 UTC
I'd imagine there are. If there are cruise ships in space, there must be colonies as well.

goldenpine October 30 2008, 20:16:42 UTC
Still would be pretty amazing, and arrogant, if they were all only human histories.

marredgoldfinch October 30 2008, 20:55:49 UTC
Well that'd be silly. I found vampire histories earlier.
