Last Saturday my younger sister and her family hosted Christmas for my half of the family. 17 of us packed into their modest Ranch house and made a pig's breakfast of the evening (but in an enjoyable way). And thanks to the fact that snow had messed up all sorts of plans, and that many of us had been all over the world in recent months, we used the day to take care of several birthdays at the same time - 11 of them, in whole or in part. But that wasn't it, because we were also welcoming home my sister and family from their 9-month stay in Italy (you read that right).
It was the Swiss Army Knife of get-togethers!
The thing is, there's still one Christmas party left to celebrate! Our not-so-far flung group of friends will do the final deed this coming Saturday. Then we should be able to get started with 2009 proper - only 10-days late!
