My definition: When everything goes right, even the unexpected stuff, where it's all just taken on board and everything goes better than one hoped. It's been nice having these of late, and more and more often, but even yesterday was surprising in my experience: I led a customised tour which included a river cruise (a first for me!) and a mid-tour change to visit a pub (another first); and everything lined up: it was a great group with quick, funny people; very helpful hotel staff (Intercontinental, yay), my bus driver (whom I'd not worked with before) was AWESOME, the traffic was good (shocking!), the weather was fantastic (RARE), I had time to coordinate with the office and the pub to get us discounts at the unplanned pub stop, our boat was on time, the weather was fantastic (did I mention that already?), the cruise was an absolute dream (the breeze, the company, the view, the closeness to the water), we still followed the schedule almost down the minute (NEVER happens!), and our bus driver was always in the right place. If any of my colleagues ever read this, I'm sure they'd say I had a lucky break--no tour ever happens that smoothly!
Some days I hate how little this job pays, but I know I am brilliant at it, yesterday more than usual--I did self-checks often to make sure I felt grounded and relaxed, tapped "my" office staff and the group leaders as needed for help, and any point, the action I needed to take was very clear, even in uncharted territory. (This was a customised tour, not a prepackaged one, so to speak.) On the boat ride (where I really didn't need to talk anymore), the conversation and feedback was awesome--apparently my age was hard to pin down, even by the Asians in the group (because we look young, to everyone else), haha. Apparently I seem like someone older but have the energy and looks of a university student--I will take that, thank you!
After the tour, because it ended at Marina Bay Sands, I had a nice dinner and walk around the place, then went home, finishing the day quietly with my feet in a minty bath, in front of completely trashy TV.
It was awesome. Thanks, Universe.
