Yoga reflections:
I will be attempting to get a handle on
Padma Mayurasana. I tried
Mayurasana today and fell very gracefully on my face, thus prompting the near extraction of my front teeth and near misalignment of my nose. And yes, I did have a pillow in front of me and missed it by mere centimeters as my left wrist crapped out on me without warning and prompted my swan dive. This position does not give one a happy sense. AT ALL. It's supposed to massage your internal organs due to the pressure of the elbows being positioned over the abdomen while you balance. Instead, it kinda made me feel like I punched myself in the stomach and gave me sharp pains were the pressure was applied. Some sources suggested that I try Padma Mayurasana because there is less 'length' to deal with when on is in lotus pose. Luckily, I can do lotus pose even though it seems to be the bane of western yogis and yoginis (figures that I'd be all backwards and not be able to do the stuff they can and yet sit in lotus right as rain). I did lots of wrist balance exercise today, managing to hold Bakasana for around 15 seconds (eh, progress comes slowly) although I teetered a bit. After all of that, a very simple pose, yet one that is rather uncomfortable to me became accessible. It's called
Pashchima Namaskarasana (reverse prayer pose, and omg look at the cool tattoo MRS. UTAH!). The annoying thing is that it's now a few hours later and my wrists , one elbow and lower arms are starting to tingle like when one has repeatative strain injury (RSI) or carpel tunnel (CT). I'm certain that I have the former and believe the latter is possible thanks to the ridiculous amount of time spent typing away. I know that it is not from typing this time because I have not done too much of it in the last three days. Hope it does not get in the way of my yoga. I know that there are some contradictions against during arm balance if you have RSI or CT. Boo.
Oh! I got my confirmation to attend the seminar I signed up for at the Yoga conference! How exciting.
