Pet peeves list

 My pet peeves:

·       Sansa continuously calling Sandor ‘ser’ just to annoy him. This especially applies to ACOK setting fics because I don’t think she would willingly annoy him in that time period.
·       Sandor being afraid to light a camp fire and Sansa having to do it for him.
·       Sandor being as honourable as Ned Stark.
·       Sansa ( Read more... )

Sorry. I just have a hard time becuase I find there is a lot of snark in the fandom. I don't understand it all. I just...I don't know. I have had some people lately tell me that they are not writing SanSan anymore or are scared to post their art work because fandom peeps can be so...rude I guess...especially if it is not canon or exact canon. I understand the desire for canon only. Shit. I love canon the most. I guess I just don't get it. Not that desire for canon only or perfect characterization, just the crap that follows someone if they get it wrong. But again I am probably way out of line here because this is your journal and your post and you are allowed to say whatever you want! lol sorry! And please know this is not an attack or me trying to be a bitch or whatever. I just don't understand is all!

Well first off, I wasn’t thinking of anyone in particular when I decided to write this post. You shouldn’t take any of this personal. Also, I’ve read fics that included some of these pet peeves - like the ‘dog’, ‘ser’ and ‘the Hound is dead’ ones - and enjoyed them anyway so it’s not to say that it makes any fic including them shitty. Yet, what I think is most important to point out is that these are MY pet peeves which means that I’m speaking of my own tastes and not of what is wrong or not. I’m not GRRM and I have no clue of what is going to happen in the future books. Perhaps all my pet peeves will come true eventually, who knows. If you love any of those tropes, you shouldn’t feel any less confident to use them just because I don’t share your views. There can be many schools of thoughts in the sansan community existing at the same time - just like in psychology, for example - and I don’t see where the problem is with that ( ... )

I am not offended at all. It is really hard to make me offended. While I disagree with something's in this whole post, it does not make think any less of anyone. Me, personally, someone could say my work is shit, awful no good and I would laugh because I know it's GREAT! lol ( ... )

I think what you are saying is what many people think but are maybe not likely to raise.

To me it seems that there is some discrepancy between that part of fandom who has read it all and seen it all and is becoming more critical simply because that delightful story that was so great when they first read it - when everything was new and exciting - now seems a bit cliched and worn. And then there are those to whom everything is still shiny and new.

The former get disillusioned and grumble, and then the latter get discouraged and shy away...
