Michael's reply, relayed through the assistant, was brisk and barbed. "Have the hyena give it to them himself," he said, referring to the lowly messenger. "And have him bring them their latest issue of Leathernecks (or the celestial equivalent thereof)". The messenger bore the humiliation with as much grace as he could, "nottheenemynottheenemynottheenemy."
Atticus received the package politely, and told the messenger to remain there, per the instructions. He saw and Heard the young angel's nerves. "Relax. They'll probably just laugh at you." He laid the magazines on the table where The Corps had been relaxing between calls, and then held the letter up high. Shaliach turned to leave but Atticus put his hand on his arm, not even glancing away from the letter.
