our library

our library is SO conservative. i remember i was at chapters and i stumbled upon a book that was like concubines and the 20th century. i think that's COOL. i think concubines played an important part in shaping society. most definately. and i think it'd be interesting to read how society has changed their views from "disgusting shunned society woman" to "protecting 'sex-workers' rights". yah.

and so i checked out the library. and all we have is

"concubines: anne boleyn".....who was the wife of henry the 8th. how concubiney can u get? and u don't want to read about ONE concubine. u want to read about them in general. and not in the 16th century.

also.......yes we have THREE books which have concubine......in the title.

"God's concubines".......i don't even want to know. probably like about the mary(s). and it's fiction...so hence forth not history and society.

also "the concubine's children" which i've read. but that's also like a memoir and yadda yadda. not so concubinish.

oh however. there was ONE book that i read that was a concubine and it was her memoirs being a sex trade working in vancouver. and how she got to that spot. and how she got out of doing that. and how she doesn't feel like she can love others.

yes.

"knocked up" by rebecca eckler also looks good. too bad the library probabyl won't have it until 2005. i liked reading her articles in the national post.....prior knocked up stages. hahah.

toodles.

yay for water and gatorade taht is berry falvoured :)
