fairytale princess

I’m stuck in a dream
of movie-esque fancies
with gallant princes
and storybook romance
encased
by sparkling walls
of rosy glass
and glittering moonlight
I’m a fairytale girl
in a fairytale world
but I see your place
of greens and lilacs
slowly fading
and it makes me sad to think
you might lose everything
drowning in a sea of grays
And there’ve been
so many days since I saw you last
so many days between our past
but what we share
is far too strong
to be swept away
I think we have what it takes
if we can weather out
the tides of change
If I cry for you
will your pain go away
but if I cry for you
will things be okay?
I wish I knew
the magic spell
to fix your world
but I’m no fairy godmother
though I’ll keep trying
but please promise me you won’t ever stop
dreaming of white horses
and starlight kisses
promise me
you won’t ever lose
those castles we paint
in our girly skies
and I’ll promise too
I’ll be there for you
no matter when
no matter what
it’s a promise made
and a promise kept
From one princess to another
if I cry for you
it won’t make things okay
and I know it won’t fix things
I know it can’t change things
yet
I cried for you
anyway
so you lost your tiara
along the way
but I see it laying there
right next to you
though it needs a little shine
I know you have what it takes
to make it sparkle

to spread your wings and fly
hey, mademoiselle
your name means beautiful
so you’d better believe it
on those rainy days
if all the white horses are
still asleep today
you can find your own
it’s hard being patient
and it’s hard to wait
who wants a prince who
won’t stop for directions anyway?
so put on your prettiest gown
and diamond slippers
ride out past the drawbridge
on your own white horse
to turn that first page
There’s a boy out there
he was born for you
a fairytale prince
