Damn my PS3 plays some nice Divx/Xvid videos. I didn't think they would look that much better on my Computer or what my laptop would put out to the TV.
I guess I could have been clearer. The PS3 looks better.
It is likely due to it not scaling it as much, on the computer it is scaled to 1440x900 as opposed to regular TV resolution. But the bigger surprise was the difference between the laptop and PS3 picture quality.
Its the PS3 anti alias everything policy which I highly approve of (since it can be turned off if you picky about distortion) and it uses either bicubic or better (I haven't decided)
Seems to be the best for Linux. Pretty easy to use and light weight, right now I have it running manually in a screen session.
I kinda like the web GUI but would like a bit more control. I guess I could start playing with the db a bit or the config XML.
I am interested in trying some of the other options, and a bunch of the free winows ones have more options it seems than the basic ones. I would also guess that mythtv would be more granular, but also may be allot more resources to have running just to serve a few tv shows. Maybe when I put mythtv on the ps3.
