I know I'm kinda late on this stuff, but my computer broke down for a few days. Here's what I thought of the groups.

Chula Vista "Main Attraction"

They sounded weak, I'm thinking it was the auditorium. I liked their opener. Their acapella was the same version of "Over the Rainbow" I did for the summer show. As compared to last year, Chula didn't really wow me as they did last year. They're lacking a lot of energy, because last year, they gave a lot more, but it was the first competition of the season.

Westlake "Premiere"

Opened with "Somewhere" from West Side Story. Little did I know I would hear it 5 MORE TIMES from the upcoming groups. They did a whole broadway set. Westlake focuses more on vocals, so they didn't wow me as much in show. Their vocals were okay, but I could pick out individuals from time to time.

Burbank "In Sync"

Burbank rocked. I LOVED their costumes. The guy's tux was the same exact tux I wore to prom last year, except I wore a red shirt inside. They opened with "Check It Out/Hustler" It wasn't WOW great, but I liked it. Their acapella was pretty good, but boring, which is just what the old muppet judges like. BOO. hahah. Usually, Burbank does one slow acapella, and an upbeat acapella. They were back to back, and their 2nd acapella was really really cool. It was "Fly Like an Eagle/Dust in the Wind." The choreography was really cool, and they were saying "Tick, tock, tick" underneath it all. Sounded awesome. AHHHHHHHHH!!!

Mark Keppel "Aztec Singers"

Weird set, and they were all asian. HAHA. I thought we had a lot of asians. It was REALLY weird. I don't know how to explain it. The set really didn't make sense to me. Their singing was a lot better than past years. They closed with Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle." Oh, and they sang "Somewhere" too.

Glendora "Royal Stewarts

ehhh...I didn't really like their song choices, but I guess they were okay. I kinda just zoned out...hahah. Oh, and they sang "Somewhere" too. UGH.

Arcadia "Chanteurs"

I don't know, but to me, they were a little more 'showy' than usual. It wasn't as boring as past times.

Bonita Vista "The Music Machine"

Their acapella was pretty cool, I liked. Their set was...really blue? HAHAH. I don't know, but I liked the costumes. I liked their closer too, which was "Sail Away."

Carlsbad "Sound Express"

Wow, big improvement. I remember last year, at SOCAL, they opened with Christina Aguilera's "Come On Over," and I was like...ehhhhhh. AHHA. But WOW their opener was O Fortuna. I love that song. After that, they went into a Justin Timberlake section with Seniorita/Cry Me a River with a costume change. The soloists seemed a little shy, I'm sure they could've sang better if they weren't nervous. Then, they went into "I'm a Believer" with ANOTHER costume change with some 80's stuff. Pretty cool. Then, they went into "The Rose" with another costume change (Red shirt & tie, with black pants/shoes). Some guy came on late, and walked onto stage, then stopped and hit his pose. IT WAS SO FUNNY. ahhaha...it was all casual. THEN THEY SANG SOMEWHERE........GAAAAAAAAAH. Me and Leah wanted to shoot ourselves. Anyway, they ended with Mambo, Mambo..w.hich was...okay, i guess. Overall, their set was pretty cool, they kept giving us more with the costume changes and everything, but I didn't like their closer that much.

Burroughs "Powerhouse"

I expected so much from them...hah.
Their set was

- Somebody Save Me - When David Heard - Electric Barbarella - The Gods Love Nubia (from Aida)

Ahh! Burroughs was pretty good, except, I wasn't really feeling their costumes...haha. I noticed Burroughs tends to put schwartzandos (sp?) in their opener. Their choreo is always full of energy, and it kind of turned me on...hahah. After their opener, they sang "When David Heard" by Eric Whitacre. I SO knew it was Whitacre when I heard it. All I can say is WOW. Their sound ROCKS. There was one chord that was so good that it felt like it socked me in the stomach. THAT GOOD. AHHHHHHHH... I liked their last 2 songs too. Burroughs was good, as always. That wasn't their full set, cuz of time limits and other stuff, and I can't wait.

Eastlake "Center Stage"

I'm sorry, but their set's theme was "Show Choir 2003". They opened with America, which Celebration did. Then, Jump, Jive, and Wail, which is just typical show choir. AND I COULD NOT BELIEVE THEIR CLOSER WAS "YOU CAN'T STOP THE BEAT." OMG. I had enough of that song last year. My ears were bleeding. Sorry, I really hate that song...haha

Brea Olinda "Chamber Choir"

Same Brea. Same formations. Same kind of songs. It's getting kind of boring. I liked the "Joyful, Joyful" opener though.

Host: Azusa "Aztec Singers"

OMG.
HAHAHAHA. no comment.

So, that night was so orgasmic. I'm getting so giddy these days knowing competition season is already here. As the night progressed, I liked our show more and more. The shows this year seem kind of...boring, but I know it was only Aztec, the first competition of the season, meaning things are gonna be changed and stuff. I can't wait till we compete, cuz OMG, I am soooooooo ready!!!

Pics from Aztec are here

Okay, haha...that's all.
