Now Cloud expected this place to be different than his hometown, by far of course. But this was ridiculous. Dinosaurs? Weren't they extinct? Why were they here and what happened to his house? This all was making the blonde's head hurt. And it didn't help to have his cell phone vibrating in his pocket. With a grunt he tugged it out once he did a look over of the area, hiding behind a huge leaf. Flipping it up, he read the message, a blonde eyebrow raising up. He'd come across somewhere of that description.

So with a sigh, Cloud made his way back. And it wasn't easy. He ducked and ran from places, a few animals chasing him at times. They were too small to be dinosaurs, at least thats what he thought. His lean body slumped against a tree, panting heavily. "God what did I do to deserve to find my way here?" he whined, turning to go behind the tree only to find a girl. His blue/green eyes blinked, clearing his throat. "Hey.."

Aerith jumped slightly. A person! Oh,thank goodness. and a rather good looking one,at that. Oh,she hoped her face wasn't going red.

"Ah!~ H-hello!" She couldn't stop the wide smile crossing her face as relief swept over her. She'd been alone long enough to start imagining things. Worst case scenarios. You know. The kind of things you start thinking when, oh say, you're six years old and you lose your mother for a second in Wal-Mart when she goes down the food aisle instead of the toy section.
i'm going to die from starvation and no one will know where I am and mom will replace me with a robot and i'll get kidnapped and and and

Yeah.

But now she wasn't alone! Aerith mulled over the idea about hugging him, but opted out. He might've fled,or something, you really never know how people are going to react to these sorts of things, and then what?
A million questions flooded in her head.
"Um! Do you have any idea whatsoever where we are?"

To say that Cloud wasn't surprised was a lie. He kind of stumbled back some at the high excitement in the girl's voice but soon recovered after a few minutes. His blonde spikes stood proud, though a few of the tiny hairs did find their way to sticking to his head. "Actually, no. All I know is, I'll never watch the movie Jurassic Park ever again." he frowned, tugging the bottom of his shirt up to wipe at the sweat on his forehead. He let out a yelp though, jumping over to Aerith when he felt something wrap around his foot. "Fuuck, I wanna go home!" he sighed, shaking his foot to get the (alive?) vine from around his ankle.

"Know anywhere we can go that we won't get..eaten?"

Aerith's eyes were wide as saucers as the..plant..er,thing lashed around the bramble, hissing with rage about it's lost meal,no doubt and disappeared into a tree. A shiver crawled down her spine like a plate-sized prehistoric spider.

The girl pursed her lips thoughtfully, her hands clasped in front of her. "Hmmm," she mused, eyeing a mushroom that seemed to be crawling down the tree behind Cloud. "To be honest,I haven't really checked out the area. Just plants, nasties, and more plants." Her shoulders slumped. "But! I suppose we could keep searching a little more. Maybe we're not the only ones here."

Cloud stared at her, turning around to see what exactly she was eying. Oh why did his curiosity always get the better of him? He jerked back till he hit the other tree, rubbing at his face. "Yea..Lets just.. get away from here before we're plant food." he reached to grab Aerith's hand, finding a path out of what seemed to be a small forest? Anyway, once the trees were gone there was flat land with trees across what could have been around the size of a football field. The blonde teen hummed some, looking around. Open areas weren't good. They were sitting ducks for larger lizards of the food chain. His father had been a soldier and always told his son, 'Never go anywhere without getting your surroundings in case of you getting hurt.' so, he followed those words of wisdom.

Which left him face to face with a middle sized dinosaur, who was actually drooling. He stood there, gulping. "Um.. run?" he mumbled back to Aerith, pressing back against her to put somewhat of three inches between him and the dinosaur.

Aerith gulped, as the oversized lizard let out a tremendous roar. Exotic, scaly birds burst out of the nearby trees in fright, screeching wildly.

Aerith felt the bottom of her stomach open like a trapdoor. And suddenly, she felt very, very far away as she saw herself taking a few step backwards.

The dinosaur let out another booming battlecry. And then she saw a glimpse of Cloud's terrified face as he made a break for it

Oh

shit

It was almost as if she was in another body, that disjointed feeling you'd get in nightmares. Where you try to scream and you can't, and you reach for the doorknob but it grows miles over your head and you just can't reach it.

The fact was she'd just run into a dinosaur.

A dinosaur.And now,it was coming after them ( ... )

Cloud scrambled up the tree right behind Aerith, only letting out a breath of relief when the dinosaur couldn't climb up as well. He shifted on the branch he was seated on, twisting around to find Aerith. Damn, he'd forgotten to ask her name so that he couldn't exactly call out to here and he was more of a gentleman than to just yell out 'woman'. "Hey!" he called out, hoping that she'd answer to that at least. He needed to find them somewhere to hide out, and it couldn't be the inside of a tree. So with that in mind, he climbed farther up the tree, looking out.

Aerith whipped around, nearly losing balance on her lofty perch. Cloud was scouting out for dinosaurs, it seemed.

"I suppose this would be a good time for introductions..!" She called to him. Light fell through the dense, exotic canopy, and bugs swayed about in the stagnant air. "I'm Aerith!"

"Cloud." The other called, blinking some. The sun had hit something to make it shine brightly in his eyes and that could mean only one thing. There had to be something metal around. He straddled the branch, faint bubbles floating around in his vision. "Its uh, nice to meet you.." he mumbled, trying to rid himself of the bubbles. But he slid down to the same branch as Aerith, with difficulty of course but he made it in one piece.

She sort of straddled the branch.Falling wouldn't be very fun.

"Pleasure to meet you,Cloud." She cocked her head to the side. Her eyes regarded his warmly. Ah.It was so nice not being alone anymore. Even if he knew as much about the situation at hand than she did. He sure was blinking alot..Maybe he was nervous? Aerith chuckled inwardly at the thought.

Once the bubbles went away, he leaned back against the trunk of the tree, sighing softly. "I sleep in my new house for one night and I end up here.. This is so weird." he grumbled, looking around below them to make sure that no other dinosaur and decided to stake out and wait for them to come down. But Cloud knew that sooner or later they'd have to come down, the need for food would force them out. "What are we going to do about..food?" he looked back at Aerith, his hands drumming against the branch.

"Well. In a place this this,I'm sure there's bound to be something edible..."

A thought popped into her head. Birds had been in these trees.

She'd only noticed them when the dinosaur's roar had scared them off. If there were birds roosting in here, that must mean...

"Fruit!"

Aerith tilted her head back to look up. Sure enough, clusters of round, brightly colored yellow-things hung from the branches. Aerith haphazardly stood up to reach for one, bracing herself against the trunk. She gently eased on off, and sat back down to examine it.

The skin was somewhat waxy-almost like a banana except for the spattering of pink around the stem. Aerith turned it over and over in her hand.

"What do you think?"

Cloud blinked at her sudden outburst, watching her. Ahh, she was right. He was too caught up in staring at the dinosaur that he never noticed that birds were there. He frowned, reaching over to take it and turn it over in his hand. "Should be okay.." he braced it in his hand to tear it open. One hand lifted a piece up to his nose to sniff. Smelled edible but smelling edible and being edible were two different things. So a taste test was in. Oh god the blonde hoped it was edible. With a wary look at it, the teen brought it up to his lips to bite a small bit off to chew on.

"..Tastes like a mango.." yea, it wasn't nice to walk with food in your mouth but he decided to let Aerith know if she wanted the other half.

[ooc; Ahh its fine. :3]

"Oh,that's quite alright actually, there's plenty here."
Aerith simply stood up and plucked off another one.She settled back down, looking quite content with the little prehistoric fruit cradled in her hands. She deftly pulled off strips of peel, tossing them down to the jungle floor below.

"Just our luck, huh?" She took a bite, chewing thoughtfully as her eyes skimmed the now darkening horizon. Lush, orange, red and purple hues now painted everything it touched, but Aerith couldn't hold back the dread of the coming night.

"We won't be able to sleep much. Especially if we are back in time, that would mean there's the flying ones that would probably love to wait for us to be asleep so that they could pluck us from the tree." he frowned, eating the rest of the weird looking fruit. They'd have to find something to work out, taking shifts on staying awake but that wasn't exactly a good idea. Long bounds of silence for Cloud would slowly drive him insane. He never could stay in silence for too long and hearing all the little snaps of twigs and things, he'd be driven to the point of suicide.

He leaned back against the trunk again, rubbing at his face. Another thing that bothered him was the humidity. It was like a sauna. He sighed, sitting up to tug his shirt off, rubbing the sweat off of his face with it.

Aerith kept her eyes down. Thankfully it was getting dark enough so he couldn't see her blush.Yeesh. How on earth was she supposed to make eye contact now?

She finished off the fruit, tossing the rest down. Though..something moved in the corner of her eye as she did so.

Far below on the forest floor [where Aerith's little pile of peels and the pit sat, a brutish, rather squat dinosaur lumbered into view. It sniffed about, grunting as it nudged the peel with it's muzzle. "Well, that's just dandy." She thought. Guess there wasn't any way of getting down either. "Look at that, Cloud." She nodded to it, as another dinosaur came into the scene. The smell of the fruit must've attracted them.
