I gots the internets back!

Today is for being lazy. I can't remember the last time I was lazy. Definitely before the move... maybe before the house search. >_< Today I slept until after ten (I've been exhausted all the time!) and have done nothing but read manga and catch up on the interwebs all day.

I'm starting to feel pretty dern pregnant right now. I'm almost done with the first trimester, which means the nausea and such are starting to let up, but I'm also just starting to show, which means that my clothes are feeling icky and snug. Blarg. I'm *not* buying maternity clothes yet. My goal is to get through summer in my own stuff and worry about cool-weather clothes only.

I'm applying for a new job. I don't harbor too many hopes that I'll get it, but I feel obligated to try. It's still for Half Price Books, so I won't have to deal with changes in insurance or any other ridiculous complication, but it would be a better fit, schedule-wise, for having a kidlet. Basically it's not at a store at all. We have a branch called BookSmarter that sells books online. A group of five people work from the warehouse, listing the books and managing the online sales. The head of this little department is moving to Finland (yeah, Finland!) and thus needs to be replaced. The true perk is that it's a weekday, 9-5 job, which will help me *enormously* in sorting out our upcoming childcare issues.

It's actually a one-step promotion for me, and I've been told that I'm an excellent applicant. However, I've been in my current position for less than a year and my 6-month review was filled with fail, which hardly makes me a great candidate for promotion. I've improved hugely since then, but it's not been documented as such yet, and won't be until August (after this job hires). Also, there are probably people within Booksmarter that might be trying for this position, and as they know the work already, I'm not sure I can compete.

Still, as I said, I would feel foolish for not trying. So wish me luck! If things work out, no one else applying will be even remotely qualified and I'll be the obvious choice. ^_^;

So that's my world right now. The house is wonderful - even without the AC on, it's stayed pretty livable (though I might just turn the darn thing on today, it's such a scorcher!). Sabu loves the place, and we're working hard to get the not-so-great places (the dining room floor, for instance) into shape for having folks over. It's neat to think that I'll be living here for the next five years at least - maybe even fifteen or twenty. I've never lived anywhere for long, so it's kind of hard to wrap my brain around. ^_^
