Working at the new store will be okay. Maybe even fun. I'm still a bit (read: utterly and uncontrollably) shy with my new co-workers, but I figure that'll change eventually. I'm already having trouble remembering names. Ugh. But otherwise things alooking re up.
My assigned sections are not what I'd want (I saw stacks of manga and graphic novels to go out, but had to shelve sports, instead! Sports!), but I've already made a few changes in the sports section that make me a bit fonder of it. The person who ran it before me put kayaking and canoeing in the Camping/Hiking/Climbing section instead of the Sailing/Boating area. Huh? Also, scuba diving and surfing were in the boating section. Again, huh? But it's all tidy and properly arranged now.
I'm definitely going to need to find a better route home. Going to work is fine, but one of the roads I take is being worked on and therefore runs only one way. Because of this, I have to cut through the OSU campus to get home. So far it's been easy, but school is not yet in session. I was wondering out loud how much harder it was going to be when school started, and Tom pointed out that I'm driving only one block away from the Horseshoe - game days are going to be an evil, vindictive bitch. So I need to find a new route. I know from experience that I can't handle OSU football when I'm trying just to get home.
I got my first raised paycheck yesterday. ^____^ Almost $100 more than I was making per check. Score! That's gonna help a lot. We're not making (even close to) as much as we were when Tom was at Air Net and I was at Cheryl's, but this is a step in the right direction. Plus, I found out that I get another raise in six months, and Tom's first raise is in November. That might just be enough to push us past "getting by" and into "able to go out without sacrificing our food budget." It's been two years since I was able to make a decent living, and I'm eager to get back to it, since, unlike Tom, I *chose* to walk away from that paycheck. I've been feeling guilty for a while now, and this eases it somewhat.
And for now I must go. I have to get to the post office and still have time to cook lunch before work. :kisses to all::
