Pre-New Job Jitters

Jan 10, 2010 20:44

I feel like I spent the whole weekend getting a desk and not actually buying a chair. That may be something of an exaggeration, but given my brain being all full of messy stuff and not being good at making a decision in the first place, the desk took a lot of energy. It's put together and in my work nook.

The computer, not so much. It's there, but I have wired rather than wireless internets. When I plug the LAN cable from my personal laptop into the work laptop, it tells me I have limited connectivity. I don't know why that is, and I don't intend to find out until tomorrow morning after 8, as it is just not worth my free time. Similarly I'm going to do the rest of my setting up of my workspace tomorrow or during the week.

I should say that it's not because I'm a slacker. It's because I have absolutely no idea how to "report to work" tomorrow. Beyond checking my email and answering anything that needs to be answered, I have no idea who I need to talk to or with. I still haven't seen a syllabus or curriculum. I apparently do have a mentor teacher, so perhaps he can help me with that. Tomorrow. During working hours.

NB: For various reasons, I'm going to keep entries about teaching online public for the time being. They will be tagged "cyberschool". So those of you on my FL may see two updates in a day - one about work and one about life that is private.

work, teaching, cyberschool
