Smaller Needle Case Originally uploaded by
marmal8. I have a long weekend. What that actually means is that I get a day off. Totally off. Monday I have no obligations!
Usually Saturday is the day I prep for tutoring. I have tried a number of ways to do this - start prepping after work on Tuesday, do some Thursday, or prep first on Saturday before doing anything fun. That last one doesn't work because I procrastinate prepping and then don't get to prepping until 5 or so, and get no chance to do anything fun. So this time I tried to put fun first. It sort of worked in that the fun got done. The prepping did somewhat, but then it turned out my student caught a cold and we rescheduled for next week yay!
I've been itching for sewing lately. I reconstructed a CMU shirt on Tuesday night (no pic yet, not sure if I'm done, ya know?) and then yesterday it occurred to me that I need something different in a needle case than the current one provides. I pretty much knew that after I made the first one, but had not yet felt the need to do anything about it. Essentially I needed more room for crochet hooks and a shallower pocket for small things like cable and tapestry needles. (Of course I couldn't find my cable needle and suspect I left it at Knit One Thursday, but what can you do?) This one uses the same fabrics as my
previous needle case. I had great fun making the skull appliqué, and may find myself doing more punk-rock appliqué in the future. I also used PURPLE SNAP TAPE for the closure (not really practical but so fun and punk rock!) and made a little snap-closure pocket for seaming pins. It turned out I have more seaming pins than the pocket holds, but so what?
Background is of course my "garden." Note how the colors match? Hee hee.
Next up, I must do something with
this sweet little book o'cuteness sundaygray gave
thetummy for her birthday. I'm pretty sure
thetummy isn't planning on taking up crochet, but she does enjoy wrapping paper.
