I'd think this was extreme satire, had I not lived it a few times (just strike "self-loathing black person" and insert "self-loathing woman"). As gimmelgirl might put it, I'm frummy on the inside, but to the casual observer, I fit with the typical yuppie mold. Combine that with area of law that I practice, and people who don't know me very well have felt free to say an enormous number of things that I doubt they would have said had they known that I'm an evil, self-hating, talibangelical, rethuglican, right-wing extremist. With bonus false consciousness!
