Idol Thoughts v. Ostentatious House
I like that they’re actually doing something this round apart from calling people in to cut them one at a time with no opportunity to sing or even make their case (I have been puzzled as to why they bother with this round of cuts when it could be done in the hotel rooms). The new system makes so much more sense (and it’s only marginally more cruel than the previous version).
Noop!Dog: Looks much more like an accountant than a rock star, but I’m glad they saw past that.

Cody: It’s very difficult to sing off the cuff like this, without even a pitchpipe to work with. I wouldn’t have sung that song, but I think he did well.
Alex: But Alex’s song was better.

Taylor: Hmmm… I scarcely remember her.
Jasmine: I think her troubles earlier were more about her nerves and inexperience. I’m glad she got a second shot.
Arianna & Stevie: YAY! Go team Marm!
Joanna: Goodness, are we going to have to listen to her forget her words for another week?
TK: Aww. This is his second year in a row being cut during Hollywood week. Poor kid.
Kendal: Texas!Barbie rides again.
Jenn: This girl is talented! Why have they been hiding her and her husband? That would have made a neat story package.
Kristen: Picking Whitney should automatically disqualify her. I’m disappointed they selected her, and I have no idea what Kara’s problem was with Jenn’s song, though I’m certain it’s not the problem Simon thinks it is.
Alexis, Scott, & Lil: YAY!
Frankie: What was that?

And what? That was so unnecessarily cruel. It’s a new Idol low (not that Frankie helped herself with the “Eight girls better than me?” line).
Alison: She’s really neat; where have they been keeping her?
Danny: He’s won me over. I’m really pleased he’s through.
Jamar: Wow, I did not see that coming. He’s better than some of those who were put through, and he could have developed more stage presence if they gave him a chance.
Brent: Dude where have you been?
Nick/Norman: NO WAY! THIS IS SO AWESOME. You just know who Vote for the Worst is backing this year. Yee-HAW!

Jackie: I don’t remember seeing him before.
Nathaniel: That actually explains a lot. And that was one of his best performances.

Matt & Michael: Was this really a surprise to the room (if they can count)?
